What is Profhilo Structura?
Profhilo Structura is the second injectable in IBSA's Profhilo family — and the first and only hyaluronic acid product designed to regenerate the subcutaneous fat compartments of the face. Where traditional dermal fillers physically displace tissue to create volume, and the original Profhilo hydrates and bio-remodels the superficial dermis, Structura works deeper. It targets the fat layer beneath the skin to rebuild the cushioning that gives a youthful face its natural shape, lift and contour.
Each 2 ml syringe delivers 45 mg of pure hyaluronic acid in a hybrid cooperative complex, with no chemical cross-linking agents. The result is a treatment that reads as completely natural — no overfilled cheeks, no "done" look, just the gradual return of the volume your face has lost over time.
How does Profhilo Structura work?
Profhilo Structura is built on IBSA's patented NAHYCO® Hybrid Technology, a thermal process that links high-molecular-weight (H-HA) and low-molecular-weight (L-HA) hyaluronic acid into a single hybrid cooperative complex — without the BDDE or other cross-linking agents used in traditional fillers.
The product is injected into the deep fat layer at the preauricular area (in front of the ear) and the zygomatic arch (cheekbone) using a fine 25G blunt cannula. Once placed, two things happen at once:
- Lipogenesis stimulation — the hybrid HA matrix activates resident adipose cells, encouraging your body to regenerate the subcutaneous fat compartments that thin out with age.
- Lateral tightening and lipolifting — as the deep fat pads are restored, the overlying skin is mechanically lifted from underneath, softening the nasolabial folds, jowls and lower cheek hollows.
This is what makes Structura clinically distinct: it is currently the first and only HA-based injectable shown to integrate with and restore the body's own facial fat compartments, rather than simply sitting on top of them.
Profhilo vs Profhilo Structura — what's the difference?
Both are hybrid hyaluronic acid bio-remodellers from IBSA, but they treat different layers of the face and address different concerns. They are highly complementary — many of our patients combine both.
- Profhilo (original) — injected superficially at five fixed points (BAP technique). Targets skin laxity, hydration, fine lines and overall glow. Works in the dermis.
- Profhilo Structura — injected deep into the subcutaneous fat layer at the preauricular and zygomatic regions. Targets volume loss, midface flattening, jowl sagging and the gaunt or sunken appearance that develops with age. Works in the adipose compartment.
If your concern is dull, lax, dehydrated skin, the original Profhilo is usually the right starting point. If your concern is loss of facial structure — flatter cheeks, hollow temples, a heavier lower face — Structura is designed for exactly that.

Your Profhilo Structura experience at Rejuva London
Every Profhilo Structura consultation begins with a face-mapping assessment, where your doctor examines volume distribution across the midface, jawline and temples and identifies the specific fat compartments contributing to your concerns. The treatment plan is built around your anatomy — not a one-size-fits-all template.
On the day, a topical numbing cream is applied for around 20 minutes. The product is then placed via a single fine cannula entry on each side of the face, approximately 3 cm in front of the tragus, with 0.5 ml delivered to the preauricular area and 0.5 ml to the zygomatic arch on each side. The injection itself takes around 20 minutes and is comfortable for most patients.
You may notice small "blebs" at the entry points which settle within 6–12 hours. There is little to no downtime and most patients return to work the same day. All Profhilo Structura treatments at Rejuva London are performed exclusively by doctors with 10+ years of clinical experience.
Results and longevity
Subtle improvements in midface fullness and skin firmness typically begin to appear 2–3 weeks after the first session, as the regenerative process activates. Optimal results are usually seen around 4 months after the first treatment, with full integration of the restored fat compartments. The standard protocol is two sessions, 30 days apart, with maintenance every 6 months. Total duration of results varies by patient but typically lies in the 6–12 month range.
